What is title tag?

The title tag is the HTML element that names a page, shown as the clickable headline in search results and in the browser tab, and it is one of the strongest on page relevance signals.

Each page needs one unique title that describes what the page is about in plain language. Google truncates the displayed text at roughly fifty to sixty characters depending on pixel width, and since 2021 it sometimes rewrites titles when it judges your version unhelpful, often substituting your H1 or a site name. Put the important words near the front, include the service and the location when the page is local, and keep the brand name at the end. Avoid stuffing variations of the same keyword, which reads badly and triggers rewrites.

This is still the highest leverage single line on most service business pages, and it is usually wrong. Homepages titled Home or Welcome, and service pages titled with just the company name, throw away the clearest chance to say what you do and where. Compare a title reading Home | ABC Services against AC Repair in Boerne, TX | Same Day Service | ABC. The second tells a searcher and a crawler exactly what they are getting. Rewrite your top ten pages by impressions first and watch click through rate in Search Console.
