Each has a published threshold for a good score. LCP should happen within 2.5 seconds, INP should stay under 200 milliseconds, and CLS should be below 0.1, assessed at the seventy fifth percentile of real visits. INP replaced First Input Delay as the responsiveness metric in March 2024. The scores Google uses for its page experience signals come from field data collected from real Chrome users, which is why a perfect lab test in PageSpeed Insights can disagree with the report in Search Console. They are a ranking consideration, not a dominant one.
The honest framing for a service business is that these metrics matter mainly because they describe whether your site is pleasant to use on a phone in a driveway with two bars of signal. Nobody waits six seconds for a plumber's page to render. Most problems trace to a few causes: oversized hero images, bloated page builders, too many third party scripts, chat widgets and ad pixels, and fonts loading late. Fix the images and strip the scripts you do not need, and both the scores and the call volume usually improve.
