Google selects the snippet automatically from a page that already ranks well for the query, lifting the passage that best answers it. Paragraph snippets run roughly forty to sixty words. List snippets come from numbered or bulleted steps, and table snippets from simple tables. You cannot submit for one. You earn it by ranking on the first page and by formatting an answer that is easy to extract: a question as a heading, then the direct answer immediately underneath in a self contained sentence or two, with the detail following after.
The same formatting is what gets content pulled into AI answers and voice results, so the effort does double duty now. For a law firm, a page answering how long do I have to file a claim in Texas should state the answer in the first sentence under that heading rather than opening with background about the firm. Put the answer first, keep it under about sixty words, then explain the exceptions. That one habit, applied across a site, is the highest leverage writing change most service businesses can make.
