Yes, selectively. Directories get cited heavily by AI tools answering local questions, so being listed accurately on the few that rank in your category is worth real effort. Bulk submissions to hundreds of low quality sites are not.
Run the test yourself. Ask an AI assistant for the best provider in your trade and city, then look at the sources it lists. You will usually see a map listing, one or two big verticals like Yelp, Angi, Healthgrades or Avvo, a trade association page, and sometimes a local news story or chamber listing. Those are the directories that matter for your business. Almost everything else in that space is noise.
What you want from each one is accuracy and completeness: the same business name, the same phone number, the same address format, the same categories, a real description, and current photos. Consistency is the whole point. Mismatched details across listings make it harder for any system to be certain two entries describe the same company, and that uncertainty is exactly what keeps you out of answers.
Skip the hundred listings for twenty dollars offers. Low quality aggregators do little for visibility and frequently create duplicate or wrong records that you then clean up for years. Claim the handful that count, correct whatever is already out there under your name, and spend the remaining effort on your own site and your reviews, which carry more weight in these answers anyway.
Send the site over. We will tell you what is broken, what you could rank for, and whether AI search knows you exist. No charge and no pitch deck.
