Ask who will own the website, domain and Google profile, whether there is a long contract, what exactly is delivered each month, how results are reported, and whether the agency serves competing electricians nearby. Walk away from anyone promising guaranteed rankings or a fixed number of leads.
Ownership is the first question. Your website, domain and Google Business Profile should belong to you, with your own login. Some agencies host sites on proprietary systems or create profiles under their own accounts, which makes switching providers painful. Get clear written confirmation that everything built for you stays yours if you leave. Ask who owns any call tracking numbers too. Numbers that belong to the agency can leave dead or mismatched phone numbers on your listings if you switch providers later.
Next, ask about contract length and monthly deliverables. A good agency can tell you how many pages or articles it publishes, who writes them, whether profile management and review tools are included, and how it measures results. Reports should show calls, form submissions and booked jobs, not only rankings and traffic. Anyone guaranteeing first place on Google or in AI answers is overpromising. Ask to see a sample report before you sign anything. Clear, honest reports make good decisions much easier.
Finally, ask about conflicts. If an agency works with several electricians in your city, or sells leads on the side, your interests may not come first. References from current electrical clients are worth a quick call, and so is checking whether those clients still own their sites. A good agency will happily share them. Heights Digital works month to month with no contract, you own everything we build, and you can call or text (210) 729-4008 to ask us any of these questions directly.
Send the site over. We will tell you what is broken, what you could rank for, and whether AI search knows you exist. No charge and no pitch deck.
