LCP is the loading half of Core Web Vitals and it approximates the moment a visitor feels the page has appeared. The element measured is whatever occupies the most space in the viewport on load, commonly a banner image, a video poster or a large heading. Slow LCP usually comes from one of four places: a slow server response, render blocking CSS or JavaScript delaying the start, an unoptimized image that is far larger than the space it fills, or client side rendering that waits for JavaScript before showing anything at all.
On a typical contractor or clinic site, the fix is almost always the hero image. A four megabyte photograph exported straight from a phone and dropped into a page builder slide is the single most common cause of a failing score. Resize it to the dimensions actually displayed, serve it as WebP, let it load eagerly while deferring the rest, and remove the carousel if it exists, since nobody clicks through slides anyway. That one change often moves a page from failing to passing without touching anything else.
