Website Content That Ranks: What to Publish Monthly for a Service Business

August 25, 2026 • Heights Digital

A website that never gets new content stalls. Google and AI engines reward sites that keep answering new questions. Here's the monthly content mix we publish for service business clients, and why each piece matters.

Service pages (the foundation)

One page per service, each with what it is, who it's for, how it works, what it costs (ranges), FAQs and reviews. If you offer twelve services, you need twelve pages. This alone fixes most "why don't I rank" problems.

Area pages

One page per city, suburb or neighborhood you serve, with local specifics. These capture "service + city" searches and reinforce your Google Business Profile's service area.

FAQ and question posts

Every question a customer asks becomes a post: "How much does X cost in [city]?" "How long does X take?" "Do I need a permit for X?" These are the pages AI assistants cite.

Project spotlights

A real job with photos or video, the problem, the solution and the outcome. Proof content that also ranks for long-tail searches.

Seasonal content

Published a month before the season: freeze prep, storm season, tax deadlines, summer readiness. Reused and updated yearly.

Comparison and buyer's guides

"Metal vs. shingle roof," "Botox vs. filler," "How to choose an HVAC contractor." High-intent, high-trust.

The monthly rhythm

Two to four pieces per month, each linked from relevant service and area pages, each with schema and a clear call to action. Add a video where you have one. Over a year, that's 30–50 pages of real, useful content — which is how small sites outrank big ones. This is included in our $399/month website plan.
