Run your Google Business Profile as a service area business, list the cities you truly cover, and build a real page for each one on your website. The map pack still favors proximity, so outer cities depend on strong local pages, reviews and AI search visibility rather than a borrowed address.
HVAC companies are textbook service area businesses. Your techs drive to homes, so Google expects you to hide your address and list the areas you serve. That tells Google where you work, but it does not override distance. If your shop is in one suburb, you will naturally rank best near it, and fade as you get further out. That is normal. The way to reach further is to give Google and AI engines strong reasons to connect your business to each city beyond your home base.
That starts with real city pages. Each one should talk about what you actually do there: the age of homes and typical systems, common problems like undersized ductwork in older neighborhoods or attic units in newer builds, utility rebates that apply in that area, and how fast you can get a tech out. Include photos from installs in that city and reviews from customers there. A thin page that only swaps the city name does not help and can drag down the rest of your site.
Skip virtual offices and shared workspaces as a shortcut. Google verifies with video and can suspend a profile tied to a fake location, sometimes taking your main listing with it. If you open a real branch with a dispatch office and techs based there, a separate profile makes sense. Otherwise, build depth on your website, keep reviews flowing from every area, and keep your business details consistent everywhere. Heights Digital builds HVAC city pages this way, and our free site audit can show where your coverage is thin.
Send the site over. We will tell you what is broken, what you could rank for, and whether AI search knows you exist. No charge and no pitch deck.
