How to Prepare Your Business for a Video Shoot: A Simple Checklist

A little preparation doubles what you get out of a shoot. Here's the checklist we send clients.

One week before

• Approve the shot list and talking points.
• Pick who's on camera and let them know.
• Ask one or two happy customers if they'll do a short testimonial.
• Schedule the shoot during a time with real activity.

The day before

• Tidy the spaces we'll film: workspace, lobby, trucks, signage.
• Clean vehicles and equipment that will be on camera.
• Charge devices, clear clutter from desks and counters.

Wardrobe

Branded shirts if you have them; otherwise solid colors. Avoid tiny patterns, big logos from other brands and pure white or black.

On-camera tips

You don't need a script. Know your three or four talking points, speak like you're talking to a customer, and don't worry about mistakes — we'll do multiple takes.

During the shoot

Keep working normally. The best footage is real work.
