To be on the top rank or even just on the first page on Google is the highpoint to your website and online business success. But because of the constantly changing algorithm of Google, ranking takes dedication, persistence, creativity, and resourcefulness.

Getting to the top rank is not magic.

1)     Make your website user-friendly – Visitors are likely to stay and read more if your website is easy to navigate. If going through your website pages is a pain for them, they will leave immediately. Make your website full of valuable and relevant information while being enjoyable to read. Remember, these visitors have a low tolerance for site malfunction – Google makes it very easy to click off the site if it is too slow, difficult to navigate, or full of broken links.

2)     Quality content – Drive more traffic and frequently update your website with quality content.  Engage with your visitors as much as possible. This is one of the ways to make your website visitors repeat visitors.

3)     Improve your page loading speed – Google easily recognizes if your website load speed is low. This will not only hurt your ranking but will impact how visitors engage in your website.

4)     Metadata – It is especially important to update and review your Metadata as eventually, your site changes.

6)     Alt Tags –  Alt tags allow search engines to find your page which is critical for those who use text-only screen browsers.   Always describe your graphic and video media using alt tags.

7)     Fix broken backlinks –  One of the best ways to boost traffic is by having link worthy sites on your website. If the website associated with the link is broken or a 404 error, this can harm your search rank. Check your links every now and then to ensure they are working. 8)     Voice search – There are still people who prefer voice search in asking questions on their smartphones as they find this convenient than typing. Integrate possible voice search phrases into your content. Making your site voice search-friendly makes your site more accessible as well.
