YouTube is the second largest search engine on the internet behind Google with 3 billion searches per month.

We’re passionate about YouTube because it can generate a whole new source of income for your business, church, nonprofit, or just yourself!

However, YouTube can be an entire job by itself. It’s a LOT – I’m not going to lie to you. It’ll take a ton of consistency and hard work, but if you stick to it you’ll make money from it. Take it from us because we make money from ours.

Avoid these YouTube mistakes:

1) Your title sucks.  – YouTube is owned by Google. It’s the second-highest search engine in the world. EVERY TITLE NEEDS TO BE SEARCHABLE. Today’s date is not a video title. Your business name is not a YouTube title (unless you have millions of followers on another platform). Think about it as, “What would people type in Google?” And that’s what you title your video.

2) Your description is too short. – Most people don’t take the time to type a long description. When you’re starting out using all of the word counts they give you.

3) Your thumbnail sucks. – Buy a template off of Etsy if need be! Brand it with your business colors and swap out titles every time you make a new video. This keeps consistency. BUT your title needs to tell people exactly what the video is about. DO NOT USE THE AUTO GENERATED THUMBNAILS!

4) You’re skipping the tags! – This is a huge, huge, huge mistake. Tags are all searchable. Type in keywords just like your visitors would do on Google.

5) Video Quality – People nowadays want to watch YouTube videos in HD. They want quality videos that is interactive, visually appealing, and visually entertaining. The quality of your videos specially in the market can greatly impact your viewers and their opinion of the brand.

6) Audio QualityYouTube audio is as is important as the quality of the video. Once the viewers hear the poor quality of your audio, they will not stay another second to see the rest of your content. Remember, you are telling a story to your viewers, and that they should feel the message you are trying to send them.

7) Off-topic content – If your niche is about beauty products and you wrote an article about a truck, don’t you think your followers will like the idea of off-topic content? Maybe yes, maybe no. But if your channel is all about beauty products, stick to it otherwise, adding content that your followers don’t like may lead to followers unsubscribing to your channel.

8) Inconsistency – We know creating content every week can be tedious however, you have to keep your channel going and upload contents as per schedule. If you schedule uploads three times a week, then you have to be consistent. Inconsistent content creation and upload can decrease the number of viewing hours and subscribers and will definitely hurt your statistics.

9) Sub4Sub – is a word used for when another YouTube channel subscribes to your channel purely so that you share and give back. This may sound great, but the truth of the matter is it not. Why? because it’s not organic and it can really hurt your channel really bad. Why? Because most of these subscribers are maybe inactive or don’t really care about watching your content and that can give a negative impact on your CTR or click-through-rate.

10) Wanting immediate success – Let’s face it. YouTubers want immediate success. Well, that is not the case. You must work hard to grow your channel. You must keep your channel updated and engaging to be able to slowly gain viewers and subscribers and be able to keep them.

Post a YouTube video every single day of the week and you’ll grow to thousands in the first year. I promise.
